CANCEL against Donaire, Johnriel Casimero (30-4-0, 21 KOs) will challenge Guillermo Rigondeaux (20-1-0, 13 KOs), WBA regular bantamweight champion at Dignity Health Sports Park, Carson, California, 14 August, broadcast on Showtime.
Rigondeaux, 40 years old, is arguably the elder of taro. Even though he’s not young anymore, he still dares to fight difficult duels. Since losing to Vasyl Lomachenko, December 2017, Rigo has been in the ring three times – 2 wins on points and 1 win on split points.
The Cuban boxer, who won 2 Olympic gold, has not yet been heard stating that he wants to withdraw from the paid boxing ring.
A split win over Liborio Solis, February 2020, gave Rigo the WBA regular bantamweight title belt.
Casimero, 32 years, may be a tough opponent Rigo this time. Casmero, the WBO bantamweight champion, is arguably in his prime. To be able to beat Casimero, Rigo must have a really excellent defense.
Initially, August 14, Casimero will fight Nonito Donaire for a unification bout and fellow Filipino boxers.
However, Donaire later withdrew after Casimero’ insulted Rachel, Donaire’s wife, because Rachel criticized Casimero over the doping test.TOR-05
